Fall Camporee 2023 details are here! Introducing... Survivor Camp
Join us for a fun weekend of outdoor experiences giving scouts the opportunity to unplug and learn new skills in a safe, girl-led environment. Survivor Camp is a chance for young scouts to get their first outdoor experience, and a place for experienced scouts to share their skills. It's a great time camping, cooking, celebrating old and creating new traditions, and having fun together. Overnight camping is highly recommended, but attending during the day only on Saturday is an option.
This year’s theme is Survivor Camp. Full of mental and physical challenges, riddles, puzzles and outdoor survival skills, the weekend will culminate with a friendly survivor competition where their new skills and teamwork will be put to the test.

General Information
VOLUNTEER RUN CAMP
Survivor Camp is a completely volunteer run camp. All fees are spent on renting the camp and the supplies, there is no paid staff (except for Archery). Survivor Camp has been put together as an outdoor event for registered Girl Scouts. Non Girl Scout siblings and tagalongs may not attend due to space limitations. This is not a drop off event. Scout/Adult ratios must be met per Girl Scout rules. Please be prepared to help out if needed. Extra adults are required to volunteer for 2 hours.
GIRL LED
Workshops will be taught by Older Scouts with adult volunteers. Please give the older girls a chance to teach the younger girls how to do the activity, this is a learning experience for them too. If you have questions, ask the adult volunteer working with the older scouts. Adult chaperones should bring a camp chair and stay within line of sight and ear shot. If instructors need your help, they will call you over for assistance. Please do not sit at picnic tables, we will need all the space for the workshops.
BACK INTO PARKING SPACE
Parking the Girl Scout Way means to back into a spot so that you do not have any blind areas and can exit quickly. It’s safer, especially in case of an emergency. Please ensure you back in.
REGISTER AS A TROOP
Come for the day only or camp for one or both nights, but register as a troop. If you need to add or remove anyone, or make any changes to your registration just email gstroop62801@gmail.com. You do not need to complete the form more than once.
If only one scout from a troop with her registered adult wants to attend, the adult can complete the form on their own. Space is limited so there are no tagalongs (no non registered Girl Scouts).
WHAT TO WEAR
Long pants and sturdy closed toe shoes are required. NO TANK TOPS, NO FLIP FLOPS, NO SANDALS and NO SHORTS (these are Girl Scout camping rules and we have to follow them for safety precautions). Wear layered clothing, e.g., long sleeve shirt/sweaters/sweatshirts, as it is cold in the morning and night but can be warm in the afternoon. Anybody wearing shorts or inappropriate shoes will get to sit at headquarters all day! Do not bring uniforms, they will only get dirty.
SWAPS
SWAPS = Special Whatchamacallits Affectionately Pinned Somewhere. We will vote in registration if troops want to exchange SWAPS.
SCOUTS OWN
We will have a closing ceremony after workshops on Saturday. We have a few traditions to share and will give an opportunity for everyone to reflect on the survivor theme: what does being a survivor mean to you?
SERVICE PROJECT
Stay tuned, we are trying to add a service project option.
CAMPFIRE PROGRAM
Please prepare a song to sing or teach, or a skit to perform. Repeat after me songs are a classic. Campfire Program is a great opportunity for Scouts to share their talents or silliness on stage. Jokes, poems, juggling, dancing, or any talent they want to share is fantastic. Please limit performance to 3-4 minutes. There will be sign up forms that need to be turned in by dinner on Saturday in order for the Older Girls running Campfire to build the Program.
OVERNIGHT CAMPERS
The sleeping areas include mats or beds so each person only needs to bring a sleeping bag (unless you are tent camping). Separate sleeping areas will be set aside for male volunteers. Each site includes an outdoor cooking area and bathrooms in a separate building. Campers are responsible for cleaning both: bathrooms and cabins need to be swept out and all trash removed to garbage bins. Both garbage and recycling bins need to be emptied in dumpsters in parking lots. $50 fee for not cleaning your cabin, bathroom, or removing trash.
PATCHES
Patches will be available at Saw Mill Cabin after the closing ceremony when you check out. If camping, take photos of your clean cabin and bathroom and empty trash/recycle bins to show you cleaned your cabin to receive your troop patches.

TROOP PACK LIST

Charcoal or propane stove for cooking, water bucket
Optional tent if preferred and sleeping pad or cot

Secure containers or storage bin for dry goods (we are in the woods with some clever mice)
Dishes may NOT be washed in the bathrooms. Set up a 3 bucket Girl Scout Way washing station to clean dishes.
MEALS
Troops provide their own meals; each cabin or tent campsite has its own set of tables and cooking grills. Plan your meals with your Scouts to see what they want to make and eat.
Carry water bottles. Water at camp is potable, or bring extra jugs of water if preferred.
Adult to Scout Ratios
Girl Scout ratio of adults to scouts for camping
2 adults for up to 6 Girl Scout Daisies (1 additional adult for 1-4 additional girls)
2 adults for up to 12 GS Brownies (1 additional adult for 1-6 additional girls)
2 adults for up to 16 GS Juniors (1 additional adult for 1-8 additional girls)
2 adults for up to 20 GS Cadettes (1 additional adult for 1-10 additional girls)
2 adults for up to 24 GS Seniors and GS Ambassadors (1 additional adult for 1-12 additional girls)
Extra adults will need to work a volunteer shift. We may need to limit extra adults in order to have enough room for scouts.
If parents are not comfortable having their girls camp without them, we have a Saturday Day Only option. We understand with COVID many kids haven’t done activities without their parents, but every extra adult over the required ratio means one less Girl Scout can attend. Below is the max ratio we can allow in order for Scouts to attend:
6 girls max 3 adults
7 girls max 4 adults
8 girls max 4 adults
9 girls max 5 adults
10 girls max 5 adults
11 girls max 6 adults
12 girls max 6 adults
Additional adults over those numbers will be added to a waitlist. If we do not sell out, additional adults can attend, but priority goes to Girl Scout attendess. Contact Megan with questions, accommodations can be made for younger troops: gstroop62801@gmail.com

So make sure you have at least completed the Camp Advisor online training ~3.5 hours: Safety-Wise, Trips & Outdoor Basics, Cook In, Sleep In, Campfire, Cook Out, Sleep Out, and Camp Out videos.
